Abstract

Under the "InnoPlatform" project, five Balkan countries work to implement actions aimed at enhancing business competitiveness and innovation as well as tools that businesses can deliver on their new business ideas.

Representatives of six organizations from Cyprus, Greece, Bulgaria, Albania and Macedonia have promoted InnoPlatform, a two-year program supported by the European Union's INTERREG BALKAN MED program, designed as a way of supporting opportunities, capabilities and knowledge of small and medium-sized enterprises in the region.

To be a competitive and competitive companies of today for must be innovative. They should not only have to constantly introduce new products and services, but at the same time they need to change their internal processes, change the way to organize resources and how to realize revenues.

The ranking of competitiveness by competent entities such as the World Economic Forum, the World Innovation Index, shows that, in terms of competitiveness and innovation between national economies and companies, the Balkan-Mediterranean countries are at a lower point.

In the world we live in, we have to get used to the fact that the changes are part of everyday life. If companies do not learn how to survive in such a world, they will fail, which ultimately negatively affect the economies themselves.

In the framework of the InoPlatform project, a comprehensive and complex survey will be carried out on the real needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, which will be reflected in the development of appropriate tools to improve innovation and business competitiveness.

All companies are developing innovations, but, unfortunately, 90% of them are unable or unable to implement potentially good business ideas. "InnoPlatform" will provide tools that will enable small and medium-sized businesses to be more successful in introducing and implementing innovations in their business.

All five countries involved in this project will create the so-called Innovation Excellence Centers that will help improving small business access to knowledge and expertise in innovation. At the same time, a set of InnoTools and InnoRegion tools will be developed to improve opportunities, capabilities and knowledge to introduce product and process innovations and to support networking between businesses (in specific potentially innovative sectors that will be defined by Region).
